2016 Yogathon at Sunrise Yoga

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Yogathon Proceeds from Sunrise Yoga Studio are Presented to the American Red Cross

After the terrible flooding that occurred in North Carolina in October, the instructors and students of Sunrise Yoga wanted to do
something to help. On Friday, October 28th, Sunrise Yoga Studio in Clemmons held a Yogathon to raise money for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for NC.   The Yogathon was one continuous class that went from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Instructors took turns leading the class and participants could come in and out as schedules allowed.  Thanks to the generosity of those who participated and from those who couldn’t attend but also made donations, we raised $2500!   In the picture, studio owner Valerie Kiser (on left) and instructor Cathy Howe (on right) present the check to Charles Gwinn, Chapter Chair for Winston-Salem, NC Piedmont Triad American Red Cross.   We were happy to be able to help our NC community this way and always look for ways to support the community!

What 10 Things Am I Learning from Yoga?

Yoga reminds me to:

  1. Breathe in and out
  2. Take a moment or two throughout the day to be still and quiet
  3. Remember I am human like everyone else
  4. It’s okay to make mistakes
  5. Keep up the effort (in a pose and in life!)
  6. Look for joy and gratitude in my day
  7. Smile
  8. Ask for help
  9. Accept myself and be where I am!
  10. Remember to see the beauty and wonder that surrounds me

What Fills Your Heart?

gratitude-jpegBeginning today and throughout the month of November, we would love to hear what fills your heart with thankfulness and gratitude.  There is joy and gratitude in a warm and sunny day; a heartfelt talk with a friend; and in a single moment of stillness and peace.  Gratitude exists in many aspects of life, sometimes we need to open our hearts and clear our minds to see it.
