Florence is a beautiful name. It is of Latin origin and means blossoming and prosperous. Of course, if your first name is “Hurricane“, the name isn’t quite as beautiful.
Hurricane Florence first appeared off the coast of the Carolinas in late August. She took her own sweet time in making up her mind where to make landfall and then literally slow danced her way through North and South Carolina leaving evidence of her presence along the way.
Many communities are suffering greatly from Hurricane Florence‘s devastation. More than 30 people died during the storm, most trapped in their cars by flooding. Towns like Wilmington and New Bern are dealing with catastrophic flooding with homes, businesses, and roads under water. More than 19,000 people fled to shelters in North Carolina and around 900,000 power outages were reported. Private meteorologists estimate $10 billion to $60 billion in economic damages. Sunrise Yoga is lending a hand to the impacted communities across North and South Carolina as they begin to recover from the terrible flooding from Hurricane Florence in September.
