East Coast Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is the act of looking at the entire person and helping them to find total wellness through the practice of yoga.  This is a journey molded to each individual client, in an effort to bring all the different aspects of their lives into a unified state.  Yoga Therapy is for the clients not just coming to you to learn yoga, but to get some sort of relief.  As a Yoga Therapist, you would work with the client to assess their physical, emotional, pranic, mental, and spiritual levels of being.  After the assessment phase, as the Therapist you would select yogic techniques to promote a more holistic state of being.

East Coast Yoga Therapy

At East Coast Yoga Therapy (ECYT) we provide an extensive training program to further an existing yoga teacher’s education.  This program will help you to develop the skills needed to work with clients in a therapeutic setting.  Co-owned by two Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT), Terry Brown and Valerie Kiser, you will receive a thorough education for the yoga therapeutic skills needed to treat a variety of health conditions.  The faculty at ECYT also consists of nationally known guest instructors Nicolai Bachman, Brendan Feely, and other medical professionals.

The 815-hour training program has been designed to be completed over a four-year period to better fit into your schedule.  The entire program consists of 14 modules, 4 guest-teacher units, and a 228-hour practicum with a mentor.  There will be 4-5 modules held each year taking place on Thursday-Sundays.  The trainings will alternate locations between Sunrise Yoga Studio in Clemmons, NC or Triad Yoga Institute in Greensboro, NC.  The Introductory Module is the starting point for everyone and is held every January.  Please visit the East Coast Yoga Therapy Website for more information.

In June, 2018, East Coast Yoga Therapy was awarded Accreditation by the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists).  Our graduates will be able to apply to become C-IAYT (Certified Yoga Therapist).

"The impact Yoga has made in my life is tremendous. After 2.5 years of taking classes at Sunrise, I can’t imagine my life without yoga. I use so much of what I have learned on a daily basis at work, at home…everywhere. I have reduced my stress levels considerably from the practice of yoga and have made many new friends too. Yoga is my ‘be kind to me’ activity and I’m so glad I found it and the wonderful teachers at Sunrise Yoga."

At Sunrise Yoga Studio, we offer East Coast yoga therapy teacher training to residents of Winston Salem, Lewisville, and Clemmons, North Carolina.
