You'll find peace and calm in our studio
As you walk though the doorway into our lobby, you will immediately notice the peaceful, calming atmosphere ... the soft color on the walls, the dimmed lights, and the two spacious studio spaces.
At Sunrise Yoga, you will find the opportunity to reduce stress, to breathe freely, and to gain strength, flexibility, and peace of mind. We are dedicated to providing a safe, educational, and fun environment for the practice of yoga.
Classes are available for those just beginning their exploration of yoga and for experienced students who wish to broaden and expand their practice. Each class contains yoga poses of the body, breathing practices, meditation, and relaxation. You and your instructor will develop a personalized approach to each pose creating a greater awareness of your body and mind in motion and in stillness. You are encouraged to work at your own pace honoring your limitations and abilities. Our staff is welcoming and highly trained to guide you through your yoga journey.
On the very first night of attending class here, another student told me that the studio was a 'very easy place just to be'. I have found her statement to be very fitting of the staff, students, and classes here. -- Christy Hamrick

We live the values of yoga
Yoga teaches us the importance of helping others. We support and participate in your community through activities and donations to the Clemmons Food Pantry, For Katie's Sake/Winston-Salem Foundation, National MS Society, American Heart Association, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Meals-on-Wheels. Since 2004, we have raised over $18,000 to support these local charities.

I have found a supportive, caring community at Sunrise Yoga. I don’t feel anonymous and have gotten to know people here. I have always felt comfortable here and enjoy the smaller classes with personal attention. I try to use the relaxation and breathing techniques that I learned in class in daily life as well. -- Nancy Thornburg
About Valerie, founder of Sunrise Yoga Studio
I discovered yoga in the ‘90s, while I was juggling jobs in a bank and as a fitness instructor. Yoga became a bigger and bigger part of my life, and I ended up taking my first yoga teacher training program in 1999. Later, I became a 500-hour registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 500). Then I completed a 1200-hour yoga therapy training program plus prenatal yoga and restorative yoga certifications.
For a while, I taught yoga at night and on weekends in gyms, churches, homes, and offices, toting the yoga props and materials in my car (the "yoga-mobile"). I eventually stopped juggling and made yoga my “day job.” That’s when I opened Sunrise, in 2003. We celebrated our seventh anniversary in 2010, and over 2,000 students have experienced Sunrise so far.![]()
